I mentioned we have a bumper crop of apricots this year. Very tasty fresh off the tree of course. We have put apricot halves in the dehydrator and now have kilner jars of dried apricots for snacking or adding to breakfast porridge. Janet has also made an apricot and gooseberry tart using some of the red variety of gooseberries we grow. Delicious with some vanilla icecream to balance out the sharpness of the gooseberries.
That tart looks so professional and I'm sure the combination of fruits will be delicious!
ReplyDeleteI buy dried apricots and add them to porridge, too.
I just grow the fruit, Janet is the baker. The pastry was made from scratch too.
DeleteI've not put apricots on my porridge [yet] I hope your animals have been coping OK in the extreme heat
ReplyDeleteAll good, except I sold off all this year's lambs earlier than I normally would because of the lack of grass.
DeleteI can taste and smell that pie from here!
ReplyDeleteNigel Slater has a recipe for apricot brandy at the beginning of Christmas Chronicles. I tried it last year... mmm... will make it again.
Even better in reality!
DeleteHow tasty, I'd love an apricot tree we have a peach but not so many this year..
